Frequently asked questions
- Who is Anthony Farac Plumbing?
- Anthony Farac Plumbing is a father-and-son plumbing and gas fitting business based in Lane Cove, Sydney. Founded 25+ years ago, we've been the trusted local plumber for homeowners, strata managers, and real estate agents across Sydney's North Shore. We answer our own phone, show up on time, and give you a fixed price before we start.
- How long has Anthony Farac Plumbing been in business?
- We've been operating for 25+ years, serving Lane Cove and the North Shore since 2000. The business was founded by Anthony Farac, who now works alongside his son — the same values and standards have carried through from day one. Long enough to have plumbed some of our customers' parents' homes.
- What areas does Anthony Farac Plumbing service?
- Our core service area covers Lane Cove and the surrounding North Shore suburbs: Lane Cove, Lane Cove North, Lane Cove West, Longueville, Riverview, Artarmon, St Leonards, Willoughby, Northbridge, Chatswood, Crows Nest, Neutral Bay, Mosman, and Greenwich. We also cover the Northern Beaches, Inner West, Hills District, and Sydney Metro for larger jobs. Call 0405 576 129 to confirm coverage for your suburb.

- How do I contact Anthony Farac Plumbing?
- Call 0405 576 129 any time — for emergencies we answer 24/7. For non-urgent jobs, use the contact form or email info@anthonyfaracplumbing.com.au and we'll respond within one business day.
- Do you do 24-hour emergency plumbing callouts?
- Yes — burst pipes, sewage overflows, and no-hot-water emergencies are 24/7. Call 0405 576 129. After-hours callouts have a higher base rate; we tell you that rate before we dispatch so there's no bill-shock.
- How much does an emergency plumber cost?
- Standard emergency callout in Lane Cove runs $180–$280 for the first hour including diagnosis; additional time is charged per 15-minute block. Complex repairs (excavation, pipe relining) are quoted separately. Non-urgent jobs booked in business hours are roughly half that rate.
- How quickly can you attend a blocked drain?
- Same-day is standard for Lane Cove suburbs — usually within 2–4 hours for blockages reported by 2pm. Overnight we aim for under 90 minutes for raw sewage or water ingress situations.
- What types of hot water systems do you install?
- Gas instantaneous, gas storage, electric storage, heat pump, and solar hot water. Heat pumps currently have the best running cost and qualify for NSW and federal rebates. We give you the rebate-adjusted price in the quote.
- Do you provide free quotes?
- Free quotes for installs (hot water, bathroom, kitchen, commercial). Diagnostic/callout work has a paid inspection fee that's credited against repair work if you go ahead.
- Are you licensed and insured?
- Yes — full NSW Plumbing Licence, Gas Fitting Licence, public liability insurance, and Workers Compensation. All work is legally certified and insurance-compliant.
- How often should drains be cleaned?
- Residential stormwater: every 2–3 years. Sewer drains: every 3–5 years if no tree roots, annually if mature trees nearby. Commercial kitchens: quarterly grease-trap service. We do CCTV inspections if you want hard evidence before committing to repair work.
- Do you do bathroom renovations?
- Yes — complete rough-in to fix-out bathroom plumbing, including waterproofing liaison with your tiler. Typical bathroom plumbing run: 2–4 days spread across demolition, rough-in, and fix-off stages.
- Can you fix a leaking tap or do I need a new one?
- Most drips are a $15 washer or cartridge replaced in 10 minutes. If the tap body is corroded, scaled up, or a rare design where parts aren't available, replacement is more cost-effective. We show you the options before recharging.
- What's the cost of unblocking a drain?
- Straightforward blockages (hair, scale, grease) clear in 30–60 minutes for $150–$250 with an electric eel. Mainline blockages requiring CCTV + high-pressure jet are $450–$750. Tree-root blockages may need pipe relining — quoted separately after inspection.
- Do you offer warranty on your work?
- Yes — 12 months on repair work, manufacturer warranty (often 7–10 years) on fixtures and hot water units. We register your warranty at the time of install so claims are straightforward.
- Do you work with real estate agents and strata managers?
- Yes — we've been the preferred plumber for real estate agencies and strata managers on the North Shore for over 25 years. We understand the urgency of tenant issues, provide detailed job reports for owner and body corporate records, and offer 24/7 emergency attendance for urgent callouts. Call 0405 576 129 to add us to your preferred contractor list.
- What is pipe relining and when do I need it?
- Pipe relining is a trenchless repair method where a resin-coated liner is inserted into a damaged pipe and cured in place — effectively creating a new pipe inside the old one. It's used when pipes have cracks, root intrusion, or joint failures that can't be easily repaired by digging. Relining is faster, cheaper, and less disruptive than full excavation, and comes with a long-term structural warranty.
- Do you do gas plumbing and gas fitting?
- Yes — we're licensed for both plumbing and gas fitting. We handle gas line repairs, new gas appliance connections (cooktops, heaters, BBQs), gas leak detection, and gas line extensions for renovations. If you smell gas, call us immediately on 0405 576 129.
